Data Switch Activity
This is a Flash-based interactive animation which incorporates the use of ActionScript programming to link the slider underneath the image to each individual frame of the animation. This is what gives the appearance of the data switch rotation forwards and backwards when the slider is "scrubbed" by the user. There are 27 frames consisting of the 27 different images of the data switch which was manually rotated approximately 13 degrees between each image capture. A key piece of information to note is that the camera's automatic exposure setting was frozen during the capture of the first frame image in order for each subsequent frame capture to have the same exposure, otherwise the animation would appear to flicker as the user navigated from one frame to the next. The animation also contains ActionScript programming which allows the user to rollover text-based labels when they appear on-screen in order to get more in-depth information about a particular data switch component.
